Château Marsyas White 2016
Bekaa Valley, Lebanon (75 cL)
Discover a sun-soaked wine with charming fruit!
If Lebanon evokes sunshine and spice, you've got to try this surprising blend of full-bodied Chardonnay (60%), complemented by bold and elegant Sauvignon Blanc (40%). All this is only possible in an ideal location. It's in the village of Kefraya in the south of the Bekaa Valley, at an altitude of 1,000 meters, on red clays set on a limestone bedrock, that this alchemy becomes possible.
The Château Marsyas white vintage is produced from young vines, already offering an impressive bouquet of fruit, spices and notes of dried flowers. A beautiful, deep yellow color; a complex nose of citrus fruit and white flowers. Round and full on the palate. A pleasantly fresh finish with a hint of minerality. A complex wine to be drunk with some aging.
A great success that justifies the involvement of Karim and Sandro Saadé, the owners of this Lebanese château, who are also present in Syria with the remarkable Domaine de Bargylus. In this adventure, the two brothers are advised by French winemaker Stéphane Derenoncourt, who took part in choosing the plots as well as the grape varieties, before supervising their vinification from the first vintage released in 2007.
