Casa Rojo Machoman 2020
Murcia, Spain (75 cL)
Machoman is a pure reflection of its terroir, under the Spanish sun of the Murcia region.
It's a macho with broad shoulders and a tender heart. Machoman (90% Monastrell / Mourvèdre, 7% Syrah and 3% Petit Verdot) has a deep garnet-red color with violet highlights. The nose opens with aromas of red fruits, enriched by pleasant balsamic and herbal notes, and a hint of cocoa. On the palate, it's fresh, pleasantly silky with a soft tannic feel. Perfect with grilled red meats, it also pairs well with game and aged cheeses.
Casa Rojo is an association of winemakers, sommeliers, wine enthusiasts and designers who wanted to market authentic Spanish wines from small family-run wineries featuring distinctive labels. They use only Spanish grape varieties such as tempranillo, garnacha, monastrell, macabeo or albariño and verdejo.
After creating wines all over Spain, José Luis Gómez and Laura Rojo decided to return to their native land in southern Spain. In 2009, they built a winery and planted a vineyard in the unique Paraje de La Raja, a fertile valley located between the Sierra del Carche and the Sierra de La Pila, in the Altiplano of the Murcia region. Today, the vineyard comprises 23 hectares of Monastrell (Mourvèdre), Garnacha (Grenache) and Syrah.
