Ixsir El Red 2017
Batroun, Lebanon (75 cL)
With such fruity aromas, it's hard to resist this exceptional fine wine with well-balanced tannins.
Guaranteed pleasure! With its savory touch and unspeakable spicy notes, El (the Semitic word for God) cannot be missed. Its bouquet is intense and deep. We love its rich fruits on the palate, where flavors of ripe red fruits, cocoa and spices balance powerful, well-structured tannins, with plenty of oak.
Ixsir was launched in Lebanon in 2008 when a group of friends, including French-Lebanese tycoon Carlos Ghosn, invested in a winery that would shake up the local wine scene. Located in the Batroun region in the north of the country, the building has won several awards, including Green Good design in 2011. But it's the winemaking strategy that has won this challenger the hearts of the Lebanese and foreign publics alike (40% of its sales are abroad): the team has chosen vineyard plots from all over the country, so that its wines can express all the rich diversity and complexity of the Lebanese terroir.
The success of this El Red, a blend of Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot, uses this advantage to impress connoisseurs and amateurs alike, the most patient of whom will let it age in cellar or decant it for immediate pleasure.
