Van Ardi Kangun 2024

Van Ardi Kangun 2024

Aragatsotn, Armenia (75 cL)

A high-altitude white where Kangun vividly expresses the freshness of its volcanic terroir.

A high-altitude white revealing Kangun in a luminous, generous and deeply mineral expression.

The Kangun is a white variety that finds particularly favourable conditions for freshness in the highlands of Aragatsotn. Grown at around 1,050 metres in the Sasunik vineyards, it benefits from bright days, cool nights and a dry, windy climate. On the estate’s rocky volcanic soils, these conditions help preserve acidity while developing a clear aromatic profile. Van Ardi allows the grape and terroir to speak with minimal interference.

This vintage shows yellow-fleshed fruit and meadow flowers, complemented by a subtle spicy dimension. The palate is broad and generous while retaining enough freshness to remain balanced. Its more substantial texture distinguishes it from a simple, lightweight white, while the aromatic finish extends the impression of fruit and freshness.

Founded in 2008 by Varuzhan Mouradian and his family, Van Ardi was born from a return to Armenian roots and a clear ambition: to help revive the country’s wine culture on the international stage. Based in Sasunik, in Aragatsotn, the estate’s vineyards sit at around 1,050 metres above sea level on south-southeast-facing slopes and rocky volcanic soils exceptionally rich in minerals. The dry, windy climate, with warm days and cool nights, encourages slow ripening and naturally vibrant freshness. Van Ardi follows certified-organic viticulture and a minimal-intervention approach, placing Armenia’s indigenous varieties — Areni, Haghtanak, Kakhet, Voskehat and Kangun — at the heart of its wines and allowing the character of the terroir to come through.
